Creative Bytes is a magazine style blog covering graphic design, web design, book cover artwork, marketing, digital art, photography and art inspiration for creative people.
It is intended to provide both original and curated content from the internet as well as highlighting portfolio work, creativity and ideas.
Trevor was the original author of the website. He initially started the site to showcase and archive his work (you can see all this under the Creative Bytes menu at the very top of this page). He also currently writes blog posts and curates content for the Creative Bytes online magazine. The hope and aim is that this site will be an inspiration for creative people and also a practical help. We welcome requests for professional services including graphic design, web design and digital image manipulation. Get in touch to find out how we can help you.
You can also join Creative Bytes on Twitter and Facebook. For a daily dose of inspiration and curated content from around the internet, you can subscribe to the Creative Bytes daily below and receive fresh news, latest updates and information every day to your email.
Simply it is a word play on ‘creative bites’. It implies lots of small items of information gathered together in one place, and by replacing the word ‘bites’ with the technical term ‘bytes’ it reflects the fact that much of the content posted here is, in some way, connected with technology.
Hi! I’m Trevor and I am a qualified graphic designer to HND and post diploma level. I’m also a big fan of Adobe Photoshop.
My digital artwork has been featured online and also in Photoshop Creative magazine – ‘Since 2005 Photoshop Creative magazine has been the first choice for aspiring Photoshop prosumers who want in-depth, step-by-step tutorials for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Now a worldwide brand encompassing bookazines, DVDs, eBooks, websites and mobile apps, Photoshop Creative remains the number one source of trusted Photoshop tips and advice.’
In the past I have undertaken general work for small and medium business clients including some well-known Christian organisations, working initially in design studios as part of a design team and also as a freelancer. I set up a graphic design business called ‘D2 Creative Services’ in 2004. More recently I changed the name to ‘Creative Bytes’. This reflects my move away from freelancing and better cover the wider scope of information now available on the site.
I have experience in most types of print work, web design and web development. I’m always updating and adding to my skillset driven by my own curiosity and the inevitable onward march of technology. For my own creative pleasure, I also explore photography, digital art and fine art – you can find out more about this in the magazine and in my personal galleries. Creative Bytes is partly intended to be a historical and permanent record of my on-going journey with all things creative so it includes a selection of both older designs and more recent work.
I have been involved with the Christian publishing industry spanning over two decades from around 1993 onwards. In particular, I specialised in designing book covers for many well-known Christian publishers (see my portfolio pages for an archive of work).
Aside from creative and technical things, I enjoy sports, particularly badminton, music, travelling, photography, art and those that know me will tell you that I’m quite partial to more than one slice of any kind of cake!
My Christian faith is central to who I am, and is always influencing my life. My business is no exception where I aim to be honest, helpful and reliable for each and every job I do.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any comments or questions about my work or this web site.
